University Replaces Outdated Metal Halide Gymnasium Lighting With LED Retrofits

Three years ago the Net Zero USA office in Richmond, Virginia provided Virginia Union University with a lighting retrofit which saw over 1,200 T12 fluorescent light fixtures upgraded for energy efficiency and better lighting levels.

Fast forward to today, and the Net Zero USA office in Richmond is again delivering energy savings from an energy efficient lighting upgrade to Virginia Union, this time in their gymnasium using a cutting-edge LED lighting technology.

The project involved replacing 1000-watt metal halides with a 400-watt LED product. Net Zero USA’s LED Retrofits for Metal Halides deliver outstanding performance, savings, and long life through a proprietary thermal management system and active cooling technology.

The result of the LED improvement inside the Virginia Union University gymnasium is 60% energy savings, and an increase in foot candles from low 30s to mid 60s!

We are very pleased with the new lighting because of the brilliance of the
lighting, the anticipated energy savings, and the expected years of
maintenance free lighting over the gym floor! We have received nothing but great comments from the basketball coaches, players, and fans about the bright, new lighting. Thanks again for your prompt assistance and support in helping us to successfully complete this great lighting project!”David Gordon, Director of Facilities Management, Virginia Union University
