Brighter LED Lighting Helps Student Learning
Educational institutions across America are taking notice of the numerous ways in which lighting plays a role in our daily lives. For example, studies have shown that the droning hum of fluorescent lighting which was introduced in the 1970s causes fatigue and irritability. Even worse, it can also cause hyperactivity and attention deficit disorders.
Academic Solutions in Marietta, Georgia is a great example of an organization dedicated to addressing multiple areas of improving learning amongst students. The owners of Academic Solutions first changed out their T8 fluorescent lighting to more energy efficient T5 lighting. A few years later, thanks to technology improvements and cost declines, Academic Solutions again made a lighting upgrade, this time going from T5 to LED.
With a lighting usage of 3,120 hours annually, NetZero USA recommended the installation of NZLED® 30w 4-Strip Retrofits inside the facility. The updated equipment has reduced the per fixture wattage by an average of 28 watts, and has provided a total energy savings of 51% over their old equipment.
As a result, the students attending this learning center are now benefiting from a better, brighter environment, and facility owner Academic Solutions is saving money each month through the reduction on energy consumption. In fact, over the next 10 years, more than $11,499.61 dollars in cumulative savings will be delivered as a direct result of this project.
Our experience with Net Zero USA has been spectacular. As business owners, we wanted to be more responsible with our energy from a conservation perspective but also a business perspective. Net Zero USA helped us to achieve all of our goals. Not only is the LED lighting they installed brighter and more pleasing than the old fluorescent lighting, but we are saving a significant amount of money.
Our investment is paying of on a monthly basis for us and the environment. After our installation of solar panels, T5 lighting and now LED lighting we have seen electric bills go from $600 to $170 in July.Bob and Jennifer Hoyer, Owners/Directors, Academic Solutions Inc.
